Sentrac5

Our program, Sentrac5, is aligned to the Common Core Standards for Reading Foundational Skills and the Five Pillars of Literacy from the National Reading Panel: Phonemic Awareness, Phonics, Fluency, Vocabulary and Comprehension.

We have methodically composed chapter books that contain invisible supports that help children learn to read and build self-esteem.

The key components of Sentrac5 are:

  • Sounding out single syllable words in simple sentences.
  • Sight word recognition and repetition.
  • Speed and Smoothness: practicing short passages and same list of words for repetition to build fluency.
  • Story Elements: Identifying setting, characters, problem, and solution. The ability to read with sufficient accuracy and fluency supports comprehension.
  • Self-Esteem: The look and feel of the chapter book, combined with student growth in comprehension, the ability to decode simple words, and sight words.
